So I have an NFL Dynasty league and I have to keep track of contracts in excel

Lets say the total contract is worth $20,000,000 over 4 years

The guaranteed portion of it is 25% spread out over the life of the deal ($1.25M a year for 4 years, total of $5M)

The salary portion, $15M, is also spread out over 4 years but it increases 10% each year. This is the part that I am having a problem with.

So basically, I need to know how much Year 1 through 4 base salary is, increasing at a 10% yearly rate, that would equal exactly $15M at the end of 4 years

I can figure out the answer on excel through trial and error but I prefer to have a formula.

Thanks to any that can help

10% increase annually means

(1.1)^3 * year1_salary=15M

Solve for year1_salary

That's not quite the right equation.

Where x = year one salary, the equation would be:

x + 1.1x + (1.1)^2 * x + (1.1)^3 * x = 15M

x = 3,232,062.06 (Wolframalpha didn't go far enough into precision).
