Natural numbers (ℕ): The counting numbers {1, 2, 3, …}, are called natural numbers. Some authors include 0, so that the natural numbers are {0, 1, 2, 3, …}.

1. is true because {N} only contains N. And N does not contain itself. Hence, there is no common element between N and {N}.
2. is false because {∅} only contains ∅ and {N} only contains N. So, for the intersection not to be empty, you must have ∅ = N, which is not true.
