1.05^20

I googled and the answer is 2.653 and it doesnt show the steps


If I do it manually 1.05 x 1.05 x 1.05 x 1.05 till 20x

I get 11.0250 as an answer..

How do you do it correctly?

u should be getting the same answer. must be making some errors when your doing it manually

A Little trick on a calculator:

Type 1.05 x 1.05 (This is will start you at 2)
Just keep clicking the equal sign until you hit 20,
you will have the same answer as google.

It should work with most calculators

Dang, if I do that manually itll take too long to solve, do you know how to shortcut manually?

most calculator have an exponent button that looks like ^

so that would be 1.05^20

As stated in post #6, most calculators have a ^ button (Usually graphing calculators)
By having the ^ sign, in my opinion, is the fastest and most efficient want to solve
any problems with exponents. But if you don't that trick is faster then typing in 1.05
twenty times.

Let me add something that I would do If I had to calculate this:

1) 1,05 x 1,.05 = 1,05^2

2) 1,05^2 x 1,05^2 = 1,05^4

3) (1,05^4)^5 = 1,05^20

10 years later ..... almost grew a grey beard
