Anyone have any good tips/advice/tricks for evaluating integrals?

First calc 2 exam on Thursday, having some trouble identifying which method(s) of integration to use. Any links/articles/tips are appreciated!

Will include u-sub, ibp, trig sub, partial fractions etc.

u substitution is usually my first try. if it's obviously not gonna work, look at the others. iirc trig substitions often involve radicals. etc

Thanks, I've been doing this and then ibp and basically all the methods I know until one works, just time consuming when I can't identity the method just by looking at it

This is extremely basic but IBP is kind of "the chain rule" for integration. Never say that out loud in lecture but you're allowed to think it if it helps. Substitution is easy and normally quick to check so do that with a few different ideas first. Don't forget to try substitution twice if need be. Don't be afraid to implement multiple methods if need be too. We've all see the integration by parts after a substitution (a real good way to test both methods in one question) Keep up the practice and you'll eventually get an eye for each method

for IBP, let dv = the most complicated part of the integral that you can evaluate, that works 9/10 times
