anyone know how to prove TMS > = SMS?

TMS= time mean speed
SMS = space mean speed

Time mean speed is just the arithmetic average speed of all the vehicles.

I'm not quite sure what SMS actually is..

Time mean speed is space mean speed plus standard deviation of the spot speed divided by the space mean speed. Time mean speed will be always greater than space mean speed since standard deviation cannot be negative. If all the speed of the vehicles are the same, then spot speed, time mean speed and space mean speed will also be same.

and am i suppose to like write down an example w/ numbers and just calculate both TMS and SMS and show tat TMS is always greater than it?

That is the mathematics behind why tms is always greater than or equal to sms and how to prove it... The actual explanation on that link is quite simple to prove mathematically I just don't feel like typing it all out on my phone when it is already there for you.

If you truely care to learn it you should read through their equations and try to understand how they are building them. Then I would write part of the explanations out with the equations because they need explanation. Also I would reccomebd trying to do the algebraic manipulation yourself. They use very general equations and essential do substitution and a bit of algebra to show what you need.

Edit: on a side note just copying the equations will not provide a proof without any explanation.
