1)Answer the following questions for the function: f(x)=-3x^2+4x
Is the (-1,2) on the graph of f?
how do i solve this? i dont even know where to start honestly...
2)Find the difference quotient of f when f(x)=-3x+1; that is, find (f(x+h)-f(x))/h
for this i got the answer left with F. am i right?
3)Answer the following questions for the function: H(x)=x^2-2x+3
-a)Find the average rate of change from x=0 to 2.
-b)Give the equation for the secant line containing these points.
4)Answer the following questions for the function: F(x)=2〖(x+1)〗^2-3
a)Graph the function using the techniques of shifting, compressing, stretching, and/or reflecting. Be sure to identify at least three key points.
b)List the graphing techniques used.
c)Find the domain and range of the function.
1)Answer the following questions for the function: f(x)=-3x^2+4x
Is the (-1,2) on the graph of f?
plug in the values. F(-1)=-3(-1)^2+4(-1)=-3-4=7 so at x=-1 the f(x)=7, so the poin is not on the graph.
2)Find the difference quotient of f when f(x)=-3x+1; that is, find (f(x+h)-f(x))/h
so, the question is
f(x+h)=-3(x+h)+1
f(x)=-3(x)+1
f(x+h)-f(x)=-3(x+h)+1+3(x)-1=-3x+3x-3h+1-1=-3h
(f(x+h)-f(x))/h=-3h/h=-3
