Pull the 2 out

2*(1 - 4x^2)

recognize 1 - 4x^2 is a difference of squares (1 and 2x)

= 2*(1+2x)(1-2x)

Did you just factor that 2 out of x^2 to get just plain x. Yeah... it doesn't work like that.
