So I was helping my little sister with math and she has this problem:

Fernando ran 3 times as far as Aaron, they ran a total of 12 miles, how many miles did Fernando run?

I know it's easy to figure out, but how would you write this problem as an equation, like "x+y=z"

It seems like a simple problem but I can't seem to write it as an equation for her.

Anyone here pro at math?

I know the answer's 9.

Fernando= 3* a
Aaron= a

3a+a=12
4a=12
a= 3 ==> Aaron ran 3 miles

==> Fernando ran 3*a= 3*3 = 9 miles


could i get 50 fg btw bro?
