What are primary differences in attending an engineering specific school as opposed to taking engineering courses at a, for instance, school that focuses journalism?

for intro classes it might not matter. engineering school will most likely have more resources for the student to learn with. will also offer higher level classes. you decide how much you learn in many classes.

Most likely the resources or specialized classes offered which may utilize said resources. Opportunities for individual studies with professors etc

Also accreditation in the field of interest, if you get your degree from a better university vs one that's lesser know or just one of the shitty money grab ones it may change your potential to get a job

If you want an engineering degree, at least go to a school that has a decent program in your degree.
