Basic buoyancy problem, as you found out.

The force reduction (buoyancy force) is equal to the weight of the displaced water, but since you're not given volume you're given the force, you need to solve for the volume.

Now you have the volume of the crown, and you know the total weight, so find the total density of the crown.

Then use x vs (1-x) to figure out the ratio of densities, etc.

I don't know if this is really right, but I will try to help.

The density of the crown is 14,2857 kg/m^3, wich is a value near to the lead's density.

I believe we can calculate this in a simple way, like this:



7,96 is 100%

2,9457 / 7,96 = 37%

100 - 37 = 63%

So I believe there is 37% of king's crown is made of lead and 63% is made of gold.
