If a spherical storage tank holds 40,000 gallons (120,000 liters) of water, what diameter must it have?
I don't want the answer, I just need help figuring out where to start. I have the volume, which is 40,000 gallons. Where do I go from there?

If it's a sphere and it's asking for the volume, you have V = (4/3)(pi)r^3.

1 m³ = 1000 L
So, 120.000L = 120 m³
The volume for sphere is calculated by this formula: V = (4.pi.R³)/3
So, we have the volume = 120 m³
120 = (4 x 3,14 x R³) / 3
Now you can calculate you answer.
