Binary is base 2: xyz = x*2^2 + y*2^1 + z*2^0
Hexadecimal is base 16: xyz = x*16^2 + y*16^1 + z*2^0
Decimal is base 10: xyz = x*10^2 + y*10^1 + z*10^0

It's simple work but take a bit of time.

your prof didn't show you how to do this? These conversions are quite simple if you learn how to do it, especially the binary/hex ones.

14 base ten is 4x10^0 + 1x10^1

so binary, we need something similar

binary would be 1x2^3 + 1x2^2 + 1x2^1 + 0x2^0 = 1110

in other words, we need "one two to the third, one two to the second, one two to the one, and no (0) 2 to the 0

If you recognize that idea, you can do the same for any base

the opposite way (other bases to decimal) is pretty trivial
