Each resume should be specific to the job, and even the company, that you're applying for/to.
Many people make the mistake of thinking that since the job is just a "general" job as you put it, the resume being tip-top doesn't matter as much. But the truth is, it is very important. These types of positions get many more applications than some others.
When flooded with applications and resumes, many companies either briefly skim the resumes or even have an automated system to pick out keywords and use them against a database that matches keywords to a scoring system. They narrow them down this way, THEN they briefly skim the resumes.
You want yours to stand out from the masses. Keep this in mind.
