Find the equation of the line tangent to the graph of
x^2+4x^2y^3+y^2 = 21 at (2; 1).

e/ would really like to know the process. this is a review for my exam, so the answer isn't as important as knowing how you get the answer.

I won't bother finishing, but just plug in your x and y values into the derivative and you will get the slope of the tangent line at that point. Now you will have the slope of the tangent line, and a point on the line; which is enough to write its equation with the point-slope formula.

if your having trouble, concentrate on lines 8 through 10 at first. When you understand that, you'll understand 4 though 7.
