I'm really in a pickle here. I'm contemplating Romeo or Mercutio, but I really want to make this a detailed assignment, where I really use their language to full extent.
Any Shakespearian lovers in here who could give some tips? I have quotes and a timeline which I'll work through. I'm thinking the 5 entries could be one entry for each day passed in the play, if one would interpret it as a 5 day long plot.
I hate assignments like these, and would really, really, appreciate some help, simply to know how to speak like either Romeo or Mercutio.

Romeo and Juliet character diary
For this assignment, you will:
choose a character from Romeo and Juliet
write a personal diary on behalf of this character
include at least five entries
quote directly from the play in each entry
You will assume the persona of a character in Romeo and Juliet and create an appropriate diary in their voice. The diary entries will reflect the character’s unique traits – gender and social position – as well as their personality and temperament. How do they think? What do they feel? What do they believe? Why do they act as they do?
You should work on this assignment during our entire study of the play.
Your diary will contain a minimum of five entries. Entries should show how the character grows and changes based upon what that character knows at certain points in the play. Include as much information from Shakespeare’s text as possible in your diary entries. Quote the text directly at least once in each entry. In fact, beginning with a quote may be a good jumping off point for a creative exploration of the scene you plan to discuss in your entry.
NB. If your character dies or disappears during the play, you must create a letter from another character that “finds” the diary and writes an explanation of what happened to the character.
Edit your work as you go along, and revise your entries if necessary. Make sure you eliminate all spelling and grammar mistakes."
