you are standing atop a building 188 feet above ground and throw a ball straight up in the air. Newton's laws of motion tell us that the formula for the height (in feet) of the ball is h(t)= -16t^2+192t+188, where t is the time in seconds since the ball was released. How long does it take the ball to reach its highest point?

dxdt = -32x+192 = velocity function

highest when v = 0, or terminal velocity.

so 192 = 32x

192/32=x

x=6 seconds


you can plug 6 back into the position function to get the actual height it reaches.
