I don't mean to lure you guys but it's not a direct math question..

but do you guys think Math is considerably more difficult now at college levels then it was 5 + years ago? Or is it just that they expect you to know more now?
It's just older guys like to say "Oh, that class it was easy for me" when that's horse shit because even some of the brighter kids in my class struggle.

Maybe you youngings are slacking.

I would say we are taught more math today, but we have more technology to help. People learn math differently... I found that in college, sometimes it was better to skip lecture and just read the book alone.

I don't think the content has changed. That leads me to believe the math classes taught before college has dropped in quality.
Math classes build off of material learned in previous classes (like building a foundation), so I blame that.

Not sure how it would be more difficult, math hasn't exactly changed, it's probably evolved a bit at the higher levels, like number theory and shit but not in the trig, algebra, calc, diff eq world.
I would say it just depends on your professor, how he/she teaches, the particular problems they assign on HW, quizzes, exams, how they grade, if there's a curve, etc...

This seems like a likely possibility.

The content for calc, trig, etc are all pretty standard so its not the material. The professor in your class could just be hard which is generally a good thing, unless hes just bad at teaching.

If its neither of those then maybe be the "old guys" in question are just really smart.

I think it's the professors and I'm not doubting the old guys intellect, my professor does seem to struggle and we do find him contradicting himself a lot

They are easier from what I've been told.

It is the same content, but it really is all about the teacher's performance as well as yourself.

It seems more difficult because high school does a dismal job at teaching mathematics in general.
