I have to write a paper tomorrow for a history class, and I'm just stuck on getting an idea down.

I need a labor issue in North American within the past 50 years (the 70's or 80's are preferred since they're easier to get readily available newspaper articles online for). I need to choose some sort of labor issue, ex. some sort of mobilization by a labor group, or something specific (so not just "work was hard to get", but "there was this labor movement in this year and this is the coverage by these three newspapers"... something like that).

Any particular interesting ideas that would be easy to write on? Once I have a good idea, the whole paper generally writes itself... it's figuring out something interesting to write on that is getting me. Thanks!!!!!!!!

TL;DR: Have any labor-related history things in the 70's or 80's or thereabouts that are worth taking a look at?

the air traffic controllers went on strike in the early 80s. reagan told them government employees couldn't strike, then fired them. that was a huge issue. that's in the US though, dunno if you're only interested in canada
