1.What mass of sucrose (C12H22O11) should be combined with 513g of water to make a solution with an osmotic pressure of 8.45atm at 300K ? (Assume the density of the solution to be equal to the density of the solvent.)

2.An aqueous CaCl2 solution has a vapor pressure of 82.6mmHg at 50 ∘C. The vapor pressure of pure water at this temperature is 92.6 mmHg. What is the concentration of CaCl2 in mass percent?

3. Find the mass of urea (CH4N2O) needed to prepare 48.5g of a solution in water in which the mole fraction of urea is 7.67×10−2.

1. Morse equation

Pi = kMRT

k is the Van't Hoff factor which for sucrose is 1 because it isn't ionic, it dissociates into 1 component.
M is the molarity of the solution which we are solving for
R is the gas constant L*atm/(mol*K)
T is the absolute temperature (300K)
Pi is osmotic pressure which is given as 8.45 atm

(8.45)/[1*300*.082)] = M .34 mols/L

M * V = mols of sucrose so .34[mols/L] * .513[L] = .174 mols

MW of sucrose is 342.3 g/mol so 342.3 [g/mol] * .174 [mols] = 59.96 grams of sucrose

Its sig figs, I used more digits on the gas constant and got 60.27561

still wrong and i thats pretty similar to what i got (60.2)

Ask the instructor I've had plenty of online homework that was incorrect. Show them every step you did and they will look into it.

i got 60 grams (with sig figs because temperature only has 1 sig fig).
