true but what is confusing me is the 1:10, 1:20, then all a sudden 1:200.. Would appreciate it if you can explain to me.
1:10 solution, you want to get 1:20 of original or 1:2 of first dilution (20/10 = 2)
so for 3:
1 ml original in 9 ml's to get 1:10
5 ml of 1:10 into 5 ml h2o to get 1:20
then for 1:20 into 1:100, you need to get 5 times as dilute (1:5)
2 ml 1:20 into 8 ml h2o to get 1:100
check:
@ 1:10 dilution, you have 1 ml of original material total in 10 ml of volume (1:10)
@ 1:20, you add 5 ml of 1:10, or 0.5 ml original material out of total volume of 10 ml (10 ml/0.5 ml = 20)
@ 1:100, you add 2 ml of 1:20 or 0.1 ml original material to total volume of 10 ml (10 ml/0.1 = 100)
for 1:10 -> 1:20 -> 1:200, you would do 1 in 9, 5 in 5, and then 1 in 9.
