I currently live too far from any university and my lease ends at the end of the year. I could still apply for online school? Is it possible to take online courses that will transfer to a university? Could it at least help with admittance? If so which places are recommended?

this isn't a question for d2jsp, you need to pick a college you want to go to and call them about transfer eligibility
you could easily waste money/time if you don't make sure with your college

I wouldn't go with one of those online universities. you should find an established university that offers a few classes online, and take those. those classes are more likely to transfer.

Its such an open ended question, first, decide which univerity you would like to attend, second find an onlne college you would like to goto , thirdly see if your university will transfer credits from your online choice. or 80% of colleges offer both.

There are a number of community colleges, too, that offer online classes. And those schools will tell you who accepts their credits and what will transfer. Community College is good because you can save some money while you knock out the prerequisite classes.

You really will need to shop around, educate yourself, and figure out what your best plan is though. College is a big deal. It can be the biggest investment you've ever made or ever will make. And before anyone says, "What about a house?" My schooling costs $40k more than my house.

Well here's my situation. I moved to California just three months ago so I'm not an established resident until I believe 6 months of living here. From what I've heard community colleges here don't accept non residents, I'll have to call and check to be sure.

I already went to community college in Milwaukee for one semester, then I went to university of Milwaukee for three semesters. Admittedly I dicked around and partied too much resulting in academic suspension. I did however acquire credits for most general ed in the four semesters of school I took. I have intermediate Algebra, English 102, and other common elective general ed classes completed with passing grades.

I dont think a university of the state of California would admit me as a transfer with just the aforementioned completions. Id probably need to complete another semester at a community college to prove that I can complete university course work again. Ideally I'd like to do this without needing to drive as all of the community colleges in my area are very far and would make working part time very difficult as well. From what ive heard there are online colleges I can look to that will be sufficient course work to at least gain admittance back into university level work.

it really depends on which school you are trying to transfer to. you'll have to talk to their admissions office and see which ones transfer and which ones dont. not all schools accept the same credits from same institutions

Lets say I'm trying to get into USC. I can't go to any California colleges until 2015 due to residency requirements, I checked.

My current transfer transcripts would be insufficient. What can I do, just wait until I can go to community college and then try to transfer? Or is there something I can do right now to bolster my transfer application
