The following mathematical equation will use a concept that is known as the Cowlings Rule in an effort to use certain medical dosages in order to calculate and solve a child’s dosage based on that particular child’s age. The following formula is used in regard to Cowlings rule:
a= childs age
D= adult dosage
d= childs dosage

d=D(a+1)/24
Because this particular formula incorporates the use of two variables, it is known as a literal equation. Because my last name personally starts with the letter H, I will be solving what the dosage of amoxicillin would be for a four year old child when the adult dosage is 500mg.
d=500(4+1)/24
Substitution is now used to give values to variables. Order of operation must then be used to add integers inside parenthesis which in this case is 4+1:
d=500(5)/24
The next step according to the laws of order of operation would be to multiply 500 by 5 resulting in:
d=2500/24 The last step is to divide 2500 by 24 resulting in a final solution or final answer of 104.6 which means that the dosage for a four year old child should be 104mg if rounded to the nearest whole number. Because of the fact that the answer satisfies the equation and is absolutely true, this is known as a conditional equation.

afaik there's nothing significant about the number two. it's a literal equation because it has at least one variable.

104.6 is closer to 105, but 2500/24 ~= 104.1

it's a conditional equation because it's true only for that value. is that what you mean by "absolutely true"? i havent heard that phrase before.

No. it's a conditional equation because it's true only for that value.

whoops thank you for that carter the age thing was part of the assignment that you wouldnt be able to see (a chart that has several dosages of various medications and adult dosages we had to pick one based on what our last name started with) and yes i goofed up with the final answer it should have been 104.1 like you suggested and not 104.6 sorry about that and thank you very much for the help
