i got about 42,000 m/s or about 26 miles per second
that is assuming you mean to move the earth an infinite distance away from the sun

It's not the proper units for any serious physics ever.
Also, I think your answer is considerably off.
I got about 42k m/s as well as rocinanate

use conversation of energy - what velocity is needed to "escape" the gravitational field? obviously gravity technically has an infinite range, so assume you have to have it at speed zero at "infinity"

in other words, what speed would i have to throw a baseball off of earth in order for it to have zero speed in infinite time (obviously, any speed higher will result in a FINITE time)

/e amazingly (and we were asked to prove this in our physics class), it does not depend on the direction you throw it - it takes a calculus proof but it's worth trying if you can
