for starters:

17-1: 0, 1, 2, 3/2, 2/3, 5/24

17-2: 1, 2, 6, 24, 120, 720

17-3: (-1)^n / n

17-4: 0, 1, 2, 4, 9, 19

what is the domain and range of the function y=2x^2-3

the ^ is x to the 2nd power

If H (x)=2r+1/x , determine H(1), H(-2), H(u), and H(a+b)

no real value for x will break that function, so the domain is:
{x ∈ ℝ}

the smallest value of y would be obtained when x = 0, giving you a y = -3 so:
{y ∈ ℝ|y ≥ -3}

x = 3 - abs(y)

x can take on all values less or equal to 3
and y can take on all values

postscript:

the graph looks like ">' with the tip being at x=3 and it is symmetric to the x-axis
