the answer sheet says 1.8877

how did they get that answer? what's the formula move?

2^(11/12)

That means the 12th root of 2^11th power.

Which is indeed somewhere around 1.88...

So, the fraction in an exponent means power over index. (11 over 12)

2^11/12 = 2^11/(2^2*3) = 2^9/3 = 512/3 = 170.6667 (or you could just 2^11/12 = 2048/12 = 170.6667)

so there is something wrong here, your answer doesn't match the value you stated

postscript: 'drhong' might be right, is it 2^(11/12) and not 2^11/12 ?
