So I need to pick one more class to fill my schedule next semester. I'm trying to get a Math class to go towards my minor, but there's only one class that fits in my schedule, which is "Introduction to Higher Mathematics." The description says, Essentials of logic, methods of proof, set theory."

I only need Linear Algebra and an elective, and I still have 2 years to get these last two classes. The thing is, I'll have already taken Discrete Math (where we've covered logic, sets, and a bunch of proof stuff) by then.

So do you think I should take this, even though I probably don't need to? I'm conflicted, I don't know if I should go for what will probably be an easy A, or wait and take a course that might matter...

that sounds like an Intro to Analysis class. If your minor doesn't require any higher Math classes (Analysis, Abstract Algebra, etc.), then I don't see the point in taking it.
If you want to take it just to delve into proofs, then it would be a great beginner class.

If you have the time, Id say why not?

if your gpa needs an easy A, go for it. but personally, as someone who regrets not taking certain classes in school, take something you'd enjoy or want to learn.

The thing is, I took all these AP and dual credit courses in high school, then after a year of college changed my major, so I have practically no classes done for my major, but I'm done with all my gen ed stuff. To get all the main courses for my major, I can only take 2 or 3 of them a year because of the prerequisites.

So I need stuff to fill up my schedule. I don't NEED to take a math class next semester, but I need to take something, and might as well get one more out of the way for my minor.

I can't believe how few math classes there are that I can take...


Anyway, a spot opened up in "Mathematics Software Programming" which counts towards my minor, so all is well.
Has anyone taken a class like this and might be able to provide some feedback?

"Programming and problem solving with a high-level mathematical software package; variables, control, modularity, processing of lists and vectors, recursion, visualization of functions, simulation."

It sounds pretty easy, like we'd just be using computer programs to do math...
Or possibly writing them since it's actually a comp science course.
