f(x) = (x+6)(x-8) + (x+ 16)(x + 3)
g(x) = 3(x^2 + 3x + 5) - (x - 5) (x-3)

determind whether the functions in each pair are equivalent

can you guys tell me what steps to do? please and thanks!

and

james agrees to house painting job for 900 he takes 4 days longer, he earns 18.75 c less per day, how many days did he expect to complete the house

can you explain this word question and what to do 14 fg to whoever can do this easy math

expand them (you know, like FOIL?) and then simplify (combine like terms), then you can see if they are really identical or not. Basically get it to where you have:

f(x)= (one x squared term) + (one x term) + (one number)
g(x)= (one x squared term) + (one x term) + (one number)

Once you have both of them in this form, it will be easy to see if they are identical.

It seems like you have forgotten to give us some piece of information. Reread the problem and see if you have missed something?

for the first part, do you want to say: show that f(x)=g(x)? if yes, just multiply all the factors out and then simplify

for the second part:
james assumes that he will take x days to complete the job and get 900 monetary units for it (is it dollars?), so the daily rate he expected was 900/x
but he took x+4 days so his rate dropped by 18.75c a day

need more help than that?
