What exactly do you mean by Internet neutrality?

Basically how if the internet wasn't open and protected from restrictions such as censorship etc.. Things for instance like Verizon's recent fight to the FCC against their " Open Internet " law, to block Netflix so they can offer their own platform and how important preventing stuff like that is.
