A uniform pole of length L = 1.7 m and mass m = 5.5 kg hangs horizontally from two cables as shown in the figure below. What are the approximate tensions in the two cables?

I got Tleft + Tright - mg = 0 and

-Tleft*L1 + Tright*L2 = 0

L1/L = .3
L2/L = .2

How to find tension in left and right cable?

TR/L1 = TL/L2
TR + TL = mg
mg = 5.5kg * 9.81 m/s^2 = 53.955N
TR = 53.955N - TL
(53.955-TL)/L1 = TL/L2
Plug in L1 and L2, you have TL, then use TR + TL = mg for TR
