1. Choose a G rated movie, such as "Tigger" or "Cars." Should you need assistance, contact your instructor.
2. Write an essay about one of the characters in the movie you chose who you feel exhibits anxious behavior. (See the example below.)
3. Be sure you have included all the information required by reviewing the rubric below.

Example
In the movie “Finding Nemo,” the character Marlin displays anxious behavior that can be classified as an anxiety disorder. Marlin, the father of Nemo, is an orange, black, and white clown fish. In the beginning of the movie, Marlin was anxious about Nemo swimming away from him. He said, “Nemo, get back here. You are going to get hurt. Nemo, Nemo, get back here. Hurry, get back here! ” Marlin said this to Nemo every day.

One day on the way to school, Nemo decided to swim into an area where he had been told by his Dad that he was not to swim. Nemo was caught by fishermen and Marlin goes on a search to find Nemo and bring him back home. Marlin’s anxieties were put on hold so he could find his son. On his way to find Nemo, he befriended a fish named Dory. “We have to get straight to the surface, come on follow me!” exclaims Marlin! Dory tells him to take a deep breath and then she mentions that they should ask for directions. Marlin says, “Ask for directions? There is nobody here.” Marlin is becoming more and more nervous about finding his way to his son.

Marlin’s mental state can be described as anxious and fearful. His fears, up until his son got lost, have prevented him from leaving his home and his neighborhood. He can be described as agoraphobic; however, he must rise above this phobia to save his son. Some of the stressors that cause Marlin’s anxiety are the fact that his wife died and he was left to care for their son all by himself. Another stressor is the fact that Nemo finds it funny that his Dad is afraid to leave their neighborhood. Marlin’s fear of losing his son and then ultimately losing him is also a big stressor. In the end, Marlin does find Nemo with the help of Dory and many others. Marlin learns to trust "people" and his anxiety becomes less, as he is placed in situations that challenge the validity of his anxiety.

REQUIRMENTS:
Choose and state the title of the G-rated movie.
Identify one character in the movie who displays anxious behavior that could be classified as an anxiety disorder.
In two to three sentences, describe the character’s physical appearance.
In two to three sentences, describe the character’s mental state.
Transcribe (exact wording) of two instances where the character demonstrates their anxiety.
In four to five sentences, describe some of the stressors that may be causing this character’s anxiety.
Proper spelling, capitalization, and spelling.

Actually Snyft is right.

The pig has a serious case of anxiety disorder (This is who you should write your essay about)
Pooh himself has an eating disorder
Tiger has attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)
Donkey has a major clinical depression
The owl is a massive narcissist (narcissistic personality disorder)
Rabbit is suffering from obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD)
And last but not least the kid suffers from schizophrenia

Good series that, Winnie the Pooh
