say someone got 100% on something worth 10% of total grade.
and 57% on something worth 25% of total grade.

what is their current grade so far?

Pretty sure it should be as follows,

The 57% is worth 2.5 times more than the 100%.

So (100 + (2.5 * 57)) / 3.5 = 69.3%

I would do it like this, but Sexualninja's method is good too:



The numerator is the sum of the weighted scores (that the student earned), and the denominator is the sum of the weighted maximum possible scores.

But use what ever method makes the most sense to you, because that is the method you are mostly likely to remember and not mess up :P
