Why and how does the removal of sand from the river bed affect the coastal area along the oceans?

Pretty sure one thing is causing beach erosion and this erosion can negatively effect wildlife, especially sea turtles. Although might be wrong, sorta lost how river taking away sand from river bed, will effect the coastal area....?

Thanks for any help. Or if you can point me to a link online that helps explain.

thanks, yeah ive been googling alot. and i did read that site, but it seems most sites talk about how removal of sand from rivers affect the river itself and inland regions, not so much coastal areas.

Ah. Yes, I see what you mean. Coastal is only mentioned in this part:

Any volume of sand exported from streambeds and coastal areas is a loss to the system.
