The n intercept (usually called the y intercept) is where the graph crosses the n axis (the vertical axis). So use 0 for your independent variable in the equation, and that will give you the n intercept.

In this case, the independent variable is time. So when you use 0 for time, the dependent variable represents the number of refineries at time 0, or year 2000.

To predict the number of oil refineries in 2014, plug in 14 for your independent variable. The result is the estimated number of refineries.
