Anyone able to explain to me how I would go about figuring this out?

If a vehicle starts from a rest and accelerates to 45 MPH in 485 feet. How many seconds did it take them?

A reward will be given to whoever can help me out here :)

use dimensional analysis

you are given a distance/ time, a distance, and you need to find time.

you will need to convert mph into feet per second. then eliminate the feet and you are left with seconds :)

s = vt + 1/2 at^2 where acceleration in this problem is assumed to be constant and is equal to final velocity divided by time

the equation becomes:

s = v0t + 1/2 vft where v0 = 0, s = distance = 485 feet, and vf = 45 mph (convert this into feet per second)

s = 1/2 * vf * t
t = 2s/vf
