So I am writing a synthesis essay on 3 books. I plan to use animal imagery as my main topic to reveal the theme, characterization and foreshadowing.
I'm stuck on my Intro paragraph as I'm not sure what to write as a starting sentence. Do I do a quick summary for each story and follow up with my thesis statement?
Some input would be nice :D Thanks

Cover the 5 W's(Who what when where why) of the book in the introduction paragraph, then give the thesis statement. I start by going: In the _____ and _____ (Use two adjective words that describe the book) novel/story/what it is, _______________ , by _____________ and then finish it up by giving protaganist, location, time, and main antagonist. Then, give the solution to the story, after all of that you throw in your thesis.

Try not to use the words, "You, we, your, etc." This causes the essay to be personalized to the reader.

Example:
Bad: The author then continued to explain, that you are unable to attain higher intelligence as a human.
Good: The author then continued to explain, that one cannot simply attain a higher intelligence as a human.

Apparently your genius doesn't transfer to writing. Using "one" is one of the better ways to come across as stuffy and awkward. A much better way of putting that sentence is:

The author then added that humans simply cannot attain higher intelligence.

Fewer words, too.
