can anyone help me out with receivables turnover ratio? I'm doing a project for school on Target. I'm not sure on what to do.... I need to figure it out for 2012.

Receivables turnover ratio is: net credit sale/ average net receivables

can someone help me out with the numbers? the numbers are in here: http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bs?s=TGT+Balance+Sheet&annual

Anyone who can help me out and just point out the numbers, I'd really appreciate it.

Sales is on the IS, generally listed as Revenue.
Unless you're specifically given it, for this purpose, I'd assume cash sales as well as returns, allowances and discounts are 0. Otherwise, you would have to subtract these from revenue to get net credit sales.

Average net receivables = (beg acct receivables + ending)/2. These will be on the balance sheet.

Think about what you're trying to do for a second.

You're looking for the receivables that match up to what's on the income statement.
The income statement is for a 1 year period.
The balance sheet gives you snapshots in time.

If you're using sales from the 2012 income statement, these would be the sales over the course of the 2012 fiscal year.
Accordingly, you need to match this with balance sheet items over the same period. This would be the average amounts in each of the line items, over the 2012 year.
In order to estimate this, you would find the average of the 2012 BS amount and the 2011 BS amount.

Let me know if this doesn't make sense to you.
