how would i find the average net receivables on the corporate balance sheet? I'm unsure of what the beg acct receivable + ending is
E: this is the balance sheet, I need to figure it out for 2012 and 2011.
Think about what you're trying to do for a second.
You're looking for the receivables that match up to what's on the income statement.
The income statement is for a 1 year period.
The balance sheet gives you snapshots in time.
If you're using sales from the 2012 income statement, these would be the sales over the course of the 2012 fiscal year.
Accordingly, you need to match this with balance sheet items over the same period. This would be the average amounts in each of the line items, over the 2012 year.
In order to estimate this, you would find the average of the 2012 BS amount and the 2011 BS amount.
Let me know if this doesn't make sense to you.
