Sn(s) + 2HBr(aq) → H2(g) + SnBr2(aq)

How many grams of Sn(s) are needed to complete react with 6.10 grams of HBr(aq)?

2)The combustion of butane, C4H10 in oxygen gas (O2), produces carbon dioxide and water. When one sample of C4H10 burned, 1.00 g of water formed. How many grams of carbon dioxide formed?

3)Mn(s) + 2HCl(aq) → MnCl2(aq) + H2(g)
If 5.24 moles of Mn(s) and 3.48 moles of HCl(aq) are allowed to react, how many moles of MnCl2(aq) will be produced?

4)C3H8(g) + 5O2(g) → 3CO2(g) + 4H2O(l)
If 4.70 g of C3H8(g) is added to 4.42 g of O2(g), how many grams of CO2(g) can be produced?


5)Fe3O4(s) + 4H2(g) → 3Fe(s) + 4H2O(g)
If 4.55 grams of Fe3O4(s) are added to 4.29 grams of H2(g), how many grams of which reactant will be left over, when the reaction is complete?


had a 20 problem assignment and couldnt remember how to do these. any explanation and help would be appreciated

You always want to work in moles, so first convert 6.10 grams of HBr to moles. Then looking at the formula you will see you need 1 mole of Sn for every 2 moles of 2HBr, so when you figure out how many moles of HBr you have, just divide that by 2.

You can essentually do this for all the problems.

1. convert to moles
2. look at the formula to figure out the ratio
3. apply the ratio
4. (convert back to grams if required).
