Hat # 1 contains four gold coins, one silver coin and five copper coins. Hat # 2 contains
three gold coins, six silver coins and one copper coin.

(a) You will randomly select one coin from each of the two hats. The outcome of
interest is the colour of each of the selected coins. Give the complete sample space
of possible outcomes, and calculate the probability of each outcome.

(b) What is the probability that the two selected coins are the same colour?

(c) Let X be the number of gold coins that are selected. Find the probability distribution of X.

A)Just make a table

Possible outcomes
Probability of outcome

B ) add it up from part A

C) hint: this is either 0,1,or 2
Remake a table like part A but based on the number of gold coins

There's 10 coins in each hat, so the total number of outcomes should be 10x10 = 100

part B] the probability of selecting the same color coin should be [(# of 2 silver coin outcomes) + (# of 2 gold coin outcomes) + (# of 2 copper coin outcomes)]/ total # of outcomes
so that would be:

[(1)(6) + (4)(3) + (5)(1)] / 100 = (6+12+5)/100 = 23/100 = 23%

It's been a while since i've dealt with prob & stats, but I think this is right.
