A lake has a surface area of 25 million metered squared and an average depth of 20 meters. Each year, it discharged about 30 million meters cubed into a river. Calculate the residence of time of the lake.

volume of the lake is 25 millions m^2*20 m = 500 millions meters cubed

500 millions m^3 / 30 millions m^3 = about 16.67 years would take for all the lake water to go to the river. no idea what you wanted by assignment, but i guess this is it :wacko:

edit: i dont need fgs cause i have no idea what "residence of time" is, so im not sure about the answer :wacko:
