2n=6+n

Im confused do you have to subtract n from the left and right and have 2=6? Because that doesn't work

2n = 6 + n

lets let n be anything, lets say "gumballs"

if you have 2 gumballs, and take 1 away, how many are left?

so if you subtract n from both sides you get:

2n (-n) = 6 + n (-n)
2n - n = 6 + n - n
1n = 6 + 0
n = 6
