most retarded proof i've ever seen
1/3 is an exact value, when divided, you get the value .333333.... which is NOT exact. if you can tell me how many decimals are in the division 1/3 i will congratulate you.
because there are INFINITE. that means: the value .33 repeating is NOT exact, as we do not know the actual exact value for it.
so what is my point here?
3(1/3) is still 1
if you say that 1 is indeed equal to .9999... then 3(0.9999...9/3) should = 1? according to your theory?
oh wait a second. it doesn't. it equals that same exact .999999....
therefore, .99999 repeating is IN NO WAY equal to 1.
To sum up that whole paragraph of bullshit for you, you are basically saying that you have limited intelligence, so therefore it cannot possible equal 1.
Has it ever occured to you that, just because you don't understand something, doesn't make it wrong?
Or perhaps you are a rusty robot who is unable to adapt to different environments and technology, thus making you hopeless.
Let me explain this briefly: 0.333 is a rational approximation of 1/3. 0.333... on the other hand, with
INFINITE (key word) numbers on the end is exactly equal to 1/3.
The same thing with 0.999... and 1.
Also, some people like you try to argue that infinity is a concept, not a number, therefore the limit of 0.999... is 1 but you cannot convert concepts into mathematics without making the number unreal. Well, that is not true! Imagine a concept like algebra. You can replace it with something and use it the whole way through an equation and still end up with both real and rational numbers at the end. Also, since 0.999... is a single number, not an equation, it is equal to 1, not has a limit of 1. Limits are used in equations, equalities and approximations are used in numbers.
