ok now take 1/3 and x 3 = 1
1/3 = ????????

this is retarded
.999... does not equal 1.
It becomes infinitely closer to 1 as you carry out the decimal places but there will always be an infinitely smaller number in between .999... and 1.
1e^(-infinity) would be the theoretical number thats in between .999... and 1.

OK finally a proof to this...
x=.9999999999999
If i have 10x = 9.9999999999
Subtract x from ea side (.999999999 from the side without x)
Divide ea side by 9
x=1
(-x) 10x = 9.9999999999 (-.999999999999)
(/9) 9x = 9 (/9)
x = 1
10x = 9.9999999999
9x = 9
x = 1
