There are an infinite number of decimal places between each number. And the argument that .999 = 3/3 = 1 works, but that's only if you put it into a fraction. If you just use decimals, then it is .9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
and not 1.
you say that .999... = 3/3 = 1
therefore
.999... = 1
