0.99999999 = 0.999999999

1 = 1

yes and infinite .99999999, means that the difference would be .000000000 infinite(+1)

so no, it does not = 1

Clearly all the mathematicians of the world must be wrong because all the 16 year old nerds that play d2 think they know how to prove .999... does not equal 1.

This thread should be in the humor forum.

how would .999.... ever = 1? wtf? and if u said .999=1

and u made 999 to infinite, would u not have to make the 1 infinite also? U FUCKING TARDS so that would mean the difference would always be .1 infinite more than .999 infinite QQ more plz

This is why I think we need to reform the American education system entirely.

You persons believe that .999 infinite = 1 which is an impossible comparison, because u would have to make 1 infinite also to make a fact of math, can you not see the reasons behind this? maybe if we were talking science it would = 1, but every1 is talking bout math, and in math 1=1 .99infinite=/1. Sorry for crushing you philosophy, and I'm not trying to flame or troll, and why is my opinion so much worse than yours?

Please post a mathematically correct proof that backs up your opinion.

"U FUCKING TARDS" isn't flaming? Seriously?

Math does not work the way you think it does. You have a fundamental misconception of what a number is. That's why you are wrong. If you decide you want to be a little more reasonable, I will be happy to explain why. If not, you can keep being an arrogant troll. I could really care less.

Have a nice day :)

so the 2 numbers are .999=1
thats the base numbers, in a simple theory equation. you than add the infinite to .999 would that not mean you would have to make the 1 infinite also? so 1.000.... so that would mean that the difference is always .1...(to the infinite, idh to explain that better)

uhm... its called an infinite sum :

0.9+0.09+0.009+0.0009+...=0.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999...
=1

your opinion is worse than mine because I am a math major and you are not :D

wtf does "add the infinite" mean?
