No, .9999999 will never equal one. It will approach one, but never truly equal it.
1/3 = .33333333333333333333333333
1/3 x 3 = 1 because 3/3 = 1. If you divide one into three, you will receive an infinite number of 3s.
.999999999999999999999999 is not a fraction, it is merely a decimal, so it will never be equal to one :D

And for that reason, I'm asking you to not post your recommendation that people should go ahead and rape little girls ever again.

Lmao funny thing happened today.
I'm in year 10 advanced maths class and I agree that 0.999 etc equals 1.
However, my friends do not.
So I told him everything that I found on it, like representing 0.999 etc. with x and stuff as showed in this topic.
My friends are pretty smart at maths too but they thought that I was wrong and that it could be rounded to 1 but was not an exact value.
I decided to ask a bunch of year 12 maths teachers at lunchtime and they all said that 0.999 etc does not equal 1 as it is not an exact value of 3/3.
They also said that 1/3 does not equal 0.333 etc.
Idk who to believe here...
The logic that all of you guys have posted made sense and I think that it does equal 1, but the year 12 maths teachers at my school say it is just a rounded value and so do most of my friends.
What do you guys think about that?

this ins't simple math.. this is surreal math.. one of the most complicated types of math. everything that has been said in this topic is wrong.

Did you read all 30 pages?
Do you think that every single thing said in this topic is wrong?
Well, oh great mathematician, would you please share your wisdom with us and enlighten us?

You need to ask some uni math professors and theyll tell you something else.
