i was more so making an analogy.. the number is infinite edit: i mean... saying you have 0.999 .. and saying you keep adding 9's to the end, 0.9999999 etc.. - It's just like counting 1234567 - 1432652568254 145456357356866835635 and so on... it's infinite

Where are you going with this exactly?

i think you are forgetting the important point that 0.999... is convergent, so yes its infinite but in another sense its finite (0.999... =1)

Not really, I reckon. It is similar to the infinite sum of 1/2^(n-1), which is equal to 1.
