Will always reach out to 1, will never ever reach the number itself.

/e Whoever posted that wikipedia ''x = .999'' stuff, there's an obvious flaw.
10x - x = 9.999 - .999
You're then getting rid of the .999 on the right side
How in heavens name do you get 9x???

10x - x = 9.999 - .999
+x
10x = 9.999
You're back at the beginning. gratz

ok watch this ... forget what x is...

what is 10x - x? its 9x

this is for ANY x.

there's this thing in calculus called limits breh...

Limits are what a function approaches regardless of what the function equals. Take this function. x^2 for any real number =/0. At x=0 it takes on the function x-1000.
What's the limit as x->0? Well 0 ofc. What's the value at x=0? -1000..
Therefore argument invalid.

WHY THE FUCK IS THIS THREAD STILL ALIVE. IT DOES EQUAL 1, you retards.

1/3 = .333333
2/3 = .666666

u add them u get

3/3 = .999999

THE END !

Who's the retard?

I study philology, and it's pointless to say I'm obviously not quite good at Maths, but at least I know some basics. You're summing up infinite numbers (or whatever you call them in English, I'm Spanish).

From my "ihavenoclue" point of view, and provided you're example:

1000/3 = 333
Then 333 x 3 = 1000 LOL obvious. FUCK NO.

You're simplifying the numbers you sum up, and so I did.

And now...

under modulo addition in the klein-4 group...

2+2 != 4

What exactly is "2" in V? Since V is isomorphic to C_2 x C_2, we might take the interpretation of "2"as 2x2, in which case we have we have "2" = 2x2 = 4x4 = 0x0 and so 2x2 + 2x2 = 0x0 = 4x4 = "4".
