as to why are carbon macromolecules different... i don't know, what is the meaning of this question? As far as i know, macromolecules are only formed by carbon backbones. Carbon is extremely suitable for long atomic chains, because it forms up to four bonds with surrounding atoms and the carbon-carbon bonds are relatively stable. This allows molecules containing chains of thousands of carbon atoms to exist.
I think there was some more info needed for the macromolecule question. thats a very ambiguous question... Different than what...?
I'd say that the c-c bond is not relatively stable but quite stable, how often do you see c-c bonds breaking? Also, macromolecules are NOT only formed with carbon backbones, consider silica gel...
