alright so the (to the power of 1) thats nothing..so why the hell is it needed?
just to mess with your mind?

Im guessing the question is suppose to test if you understand the basics of exponents, which it does not seem that you do quite frankly. Which is quite understandable as exponents tend to look quite complicated.

But looking at the pattern:

10^3 = 10*10*10
10^2 = 10*10
10^1 = 10

may reveal what the exponent of 1 does. So, 5^1 = 5, 2^1 = 2,... any constant a^1 = a. Even for every variable x^1 = x. When you later on reduce problems, these sort of things helps alot. For instance x^(5)/x^(4)= x^(5-4)=x^(1)=x

A real mind fuck is that everything with the exponent of 0 is 1^^ Like 1^0 =1, 10^0 = 1 and so on. But thats just convention ;) It just works with the rest of the math so lets just run with it
