These look like just the kind of problems I'm looking for. I haven't attempted them yet, but will do so during the weekend, and if I get the solution I will also time how long I spent.
Kind of cheating to have read them beforehand though.
I don't remember much of sin/cos/tan, except how sin and cos works. Hoping I don't need a calculator to solve the triangle one, but this is what I mean: Attempting to use my basic math knowledge combined with an aptitude for math and logic to solve relatively simple problems.

I'll let you know if these problems were too hard for me, or just right, and post how I did.

You understood the problem correctly.
I had assumed 3 out of 25 were randomly picked and was was the probability that at least 2 of them were beside each other.
I'm not sure where you have problems with my answer though? I suggest you read through my answer again carefully, with the mindset that I'm trying to find any combination where at least 2 knights are seated next to eachother
